Offers for students - AG Markus Prim

Here you will find current topics for Bachelor, Master, and PhD theses in our working group. The list is updated regularly and offers opportunities to get involved in the Belle II experiment.

Bachelor thesis

At the Bachelor level, students are invited to join our group for their first research project which lasts for four months.

There are no group-specific prerequisites. Nevertheless, some experience in programming (ideally in Python) is advantageous and will help students get started more quickly. For the formal requirements, please consult the Prüfungsordnung.

  • Can sterile neutrinos explain the inclusive-exclusive Vcb problem? (Phenomenology)
  • Opportunities for flavor physics at the FCCee (data analysis)
  • A new calibration method for the Full Event Interpretation at Belle II (data analysis)

Master thesis

Master theses offer advanced research opportunities within our group. A Master thesis always lasts one year.

There are no group-specific prerequisites, but Python experience is beneficial. Courses such as Particle Physics, Detector Physics, Hadron Physics, possibly QFT, and probable experience with Machine Learning provide a strong foundation. For formal requirements, please consult the Prüfungsordnung. Applications must be submitted to the Prüfungsamt at least four weeks before the start date.

  • Hadronic decays with D** resonances at Belle II (data analysis)
  • Semileptonic decays with D** resonances at Belle II (data analysis)
  • Semi-inlcusive B → D*Xℓν decays (data analysis)
  • Search for the isovector partner of the X(3872) (data analysis)
  • Tracking development for the Insight experiment (software)
  • Ageing studies for the Belle II Central Drift Chamber (hardware)

PhD thesis

While there are no group-specific prerequisites, strong skills in programming (e.g., Python) and possibly machine learning, as well as a solid background in Particle Physics, Detector Physics, Hadron Physics, and familiarity with Quantum Field Theory (QFT), are highly advantageous. A background in data analytics from previous research or a Master thesis can be particularly beneficial.

  • Currently no positions open
