At the inauguration ceremony for the Color meets Flavor cluster

Particle physics was explained in an accessible way courtesy of cluster co-speaker Professor Alexander Lenz (University of Siegen; second from left) and his family, who gave an acrobatic demonstration of quarks—the fundamental elementary particles that make up matter in the Universe—and how they interact. The smileys symbolize the different flavors of quark (from left to right): up, charm, down and strange.
