On the occasion of the 11th International Cosmic Day, 28 high school students from Bad Honnef, Bonn, Bornheim, Cologne, Königswinter, Herzogenrath and Opladen spent a day at the Research and Technology Center Detector Physics (FTD) of the University of Bonn on November 22, 2022.

What is cosmic radiation, how can it be measured and what does it reveal about our universe? The participants were able to pursue these questions during exciting program items.

After an introductory lecture on cosmic rays by Prof. Dr. Manuel Drees, the students built cloud chambers and were able to measure cosmic muons themselves with various detectors of "Netzwerk Teilchenwelt". In the afternoon, all participants presented their results via a video conference with DESY and other locations in Italy and the USA. Exciting tours of the FTD research laboratories rounded out the event's program.

Many thanks to all the helpers who contributed to the success of the "International Cosmic Day 2022"!
