Research Opportunities

As part of our research we offer Bachelor, Master and PhD theses. This page is supposed to give you an overview over possible topics. This list is by no means complete, if you have your own suggestions don't hesitate to contact us.

We also offer the opportunity to get to know our group during an internship or as a working student.

If you are interested in working with us please contact Hartmut Schmieden or any member of the group.

Bachelor thesis

A Bachelor thesis is usually the first contact with scientific work, therefore it is usually written in close cooperation with a PhD student.

Possible topics are:

  • Analysis of experimental data
  • Development of new detectors
  • Monte-Carlo simulation of detectors

Master thesis

A Master thesis is usually performed more independently, but with support from a PhD student.

Possible topics are:

  • Analysis of experimental data
  • Development of new detectors
  • Development of electronics
  • Monte-Carlo simulation of detectors

PhD thesis

A PhD thesis is usually performed as an independet scientific work within our group. Participation in the experiment, e.g. taking data, is expected and offers the opportunity to gather experience as a member of an international collaboration.

Possible topics are:

  • Analysis of experimental data
  • Development of new detectors
  • Development of electronics
  • Monte-Carlo simulation of detectors

Working Student/Internship

Besides Bachelor, Master and PhD theses we offer the opportunity to get to know our group during an internship or as a working student.

Possible topics are:

  • Analysis of experimental data
  • Development of new detectors
  • Monte-Carlo simulation of detectors
  • Participation in the experiment during beam times
