In order to keep up with the constantly increasing computing and storage requirements, the Physics Institute has put a new generation of  high throughput computing cluster into operation.
The new cluster with its 1120 CPU cores and approximately 700 TB storage space optimized for high data throughput will replace the existing old cluster step by step in the next months.
The Bonn Analysis Facility (BAF) is mostly used to perform analyses of high energy physics data. To allow automatic data transfers between CERN and other particle physics laboratories, it is connected to the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid. Furthermore, the new cluster uses Singularity containers which provide flexible runtime environments to the users. This makes it even easier to fulfil the diverse requirements of different users in a much faster way.
