"Präzisionsmessungen mit Ionenfallen (Precision measurements with ion traps)"

 

Günter Werth is professor emeritus at the University of Mainz. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Bonn in 1969 under the supervision of Wolfgang Paul. Thereafter he moved to Mainz, where he became professor in 1977. His research fields are atomic physics and quantum optics - in particular the investigation of basic properties of ions and tests of Quantum Electrodynamics using Paul and Penning traps. Among his honors is the Helmholtz Award for Precision Measurements in 1985.
